Corriere della Sera – Corporate News, July 28, 2026
There are milestones that define a history. For Makeitalia, 2026 is one of them: 18 years of concrete projects, celebrated together with its people during the traditional Makeitalia Summer Party, held last Friday, June 26, in the evocative setting of Villa Cesi, in the province of Modena.
An important anniversary that tells the story of Makeitalia’s evolution, now a leading partner for companies in Supply Chain Management, capable of supporting them through supply chain transformation and optimization journeys, with an eye always toward the future.
Within this context, 2025 was also a year of stability, closing with a turnover of approximately 19 million euros. This result represents more than just economic performance; it confirms the company’s ability to grow while maintaining balance, strategic consistency, and a long-term vision.
In recent years, and with even greater momentum in 2025, Makeitalia has accelerated the development of its expertise in the fields of Digital Supply Chain and Supply Chain AI.
At the same time, the company continues to resolutely pursue its commitment to ESG issues, integrating sustainability and responsibility into its strategies and operations.
“Reaching 18 years is a deeply significant milestone for us, which we wanted to celebrate together with our people, the beating heart of the company. It is thanks to them, as well as our customers and partners, that today we can look back with pride and forward with ambition. Over the years, we have built expertise, relationships, and stability, continuing to innovate—especially in the areas of Digital Supply Chain and Artificial Intelligence—without losing sight of what truly matters: people. This anniversary is not just a celebration, but a new starting point for the challenges that lie ahead,” comments Marcello Carretta, founding partner of Makeitalia.
To bid farewell to 2025, Makeitalia decided to host more than 130 people, including employees and guests, for a gala ball held inside the Cinema Arena.
At the renovated Arena, Makeitalia celebrated its annual Convention with 130 employees and numerous guests for the traditional year-end dinner. A gala evening designed to bid farewell to 2025, welcome the new year, and honor the company’s top talents.
This year, the event took on a special title: “Oscars Makeitalia Night,” a tribute to the location and the cinematic theme that characterized the evening. The choice of cinema was not accidental: the world of the big screen offers numerous parallels with corporate reality. Here are a few: the complexity of executing a consulting project, similar to the production dynamics of a film; the creation of a project team, which requires the same care and attention as a producer selecting cast and staff; the fundamental role of every participant, essential for the final success; and finally, the importance of communication, for a company just as for a film production house.
The Convention represents a key moment for Makeitalia: reviewing the milestones of the year just ended and outlining guidelines for the future. The evening concluded with the presentation of the Makeitalia “Oscars,” a symbol of meritocracy and the celebration of talent—values that have always been central to the company.
There was no shortage of team-building moments: cinema-themed quizzes and escape boxes engaged participants in experiential activities, culminating in the creation of a shared message that reaffirmed the link between the cinematic and corporate worlds. The evening concluded with the traditional Christmas dinner. “To wrap up 2025, we wanted to give our Convention a special touch. The Makeitalia team did a great job this year and deserved a celebration to match.
The ‘Oscars Night’ was the perfect opportunity to reflect on how much the worlds of cinema and consulting have in common. Now we are ready to face 2026 with even more enthusiasm and new ideas,” said Marcello Carretta, Partner at Makeitalia.
Italia Economy, October 24, 2025. Interview with Marcello Carretta, Makeitalia Founder
For Makeitalia, human capital is the true engine of growth: meritocracy, continuous training, university partnerships, and initiatives like the Supply Chain Challenge represent strategic levers for nurturing young talent and strengthening business competitiveness. Alongside professional growth, the company promotes well-being and work-life balance to best empower its people, as well as training initiatives and new assets for businesses, according to Marcello Carretta, one of Makeitalia’s founders.
What past experiences guided you to this human capital management model?
«In the business world, and particularly in consulting, there is only one indispensable and essential asset: people. Since its founding, Makeitalia has always understood that to meet the expectations of its clients – often companies already leaders in their sector who expect further improvement from us – the team is fundamental.
Makeitalia’s constant growth over the years has been accompanied by the quantitative and qualitative growth of its team, supported by significant and continuous investment in internal training and development: mentoring programs, personalized growth paths, teamwork, and coaching initiatives. All of this has allowed us to cultivate talent, especially among younger individuals, transforming them into the professionals of tomorrow. We invest heavily in bringing out the best: meritocracy is the watchword at Makeitalia».
What are your major initiatives that have highlighted the theme of “employee growth = company growth”?
«Since its founding, Makeitalia has made a clear choice: to focus on young people, cultivating their talent and bringing out the best. This was not an obvious or simple choice, especially in a country like Italy, where ‘gerontocracy’ often prevails over merit.
We have thus built a solid relationship with universities, our natural talent pool. This relationship is well represented by the Supply Chain Challenge – the Italian Supply Chain championship, conceived and organized annually by Makeitalia. It is a competition aimed at the best Italian Management Engineering students, allowing them to engage with real-world cases, our consultants, and partners.
The Challenge concludes each year with the identification of the Italian Champion Team: the fourth edition, just completed, saw the participation of over 1,200 students representing more than 20 universities. This initiative is not only a way to introduce young people to the world of work but also an opportunity to spread the culture of Supply Chain Management and a moment of enrichment for everyone: Makeitalia, students, partners, and institutions (Emilia-Romagna Region, Municipality of Modena, Confindustria Emilia), who have supported us since the first edition».
How can these initiatives be interesting in the current Italian economic scenario, and what results can they achieve?
«The current macroeconomic scenario, constantly and rapidly changing, demands speed, adaptability, and continuous innovation. To avoid being expelled from the market, only one thing is needed: to have capable and well-prepared people on the team. There are no shortcuts.
We believe that initiatives like the Supply Chain Challenge or internal development programs are strategic levers for addressing today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. This applies to Makeitalia as it does to any company, in Italy and worldwide. Investing in young people today means having the opportunity to play the game tomorrow. Otherwise, it’s better to sit in the stands and watch others play».
What other corporate projects do you think can be implemented?
«In addition to investments in training and professional growth, we believe it is essential to continue with projects related to work-life balance. For us, employee well-being is a core value. It’s pointless to identify and develop talent if we don’t then put them in a position to perform at their best.
For this reason, we promote up to three days of smart working per week, offer welfare tools to support personal and family expenses, guarantee flexible hours and modern, comfortable work environments, and have activated continuous listening programs. We believe that only by finding a good balance between private and professional life can people fully express their potential and thus contribute to common growth».
Modena-based Makeitalia has once again been included in the 2025 Growth Champions ranking this year. This list is compiled by Repubblica Affari & Finanza and the German Institute for Quality and Finance (ITF), based on a study of Italian companies with the most significant economic expansion in recent years and the most substantial revenue growth during the 2020-2023 three-year period. Makeitalia ranked 246th out of 800.
This recognition was further confirmed by Il Sole 24 Ore and Statista, which awarded Makeitalia the 2025 Growth Leader award, placing it 350th among the 500 Italian companies that achieved significant revenue growth over the same three-year period.
Furthermore, Makeitalia received the 2024 Best Performer award, an acknowledgment resulting from a study of company financial statements in the province of Modena conducted by the ItalyPost Study Center for the newspapers EmiliaPost and L’Economia del Corriere della Sera.
Makeitalia was founded in 2008 and consists of a team of professionals with solid experience in Supply Chain Management.
In 2023, it achieved a 50% increase in revenue compared to 2022, with 46 new hires.
“We are proud of the recognitions received, and for this, we thank – explains Francesco Tonolo, partner at Makeitalia – not only our clients but also the extensive network of employees and collaborators who enable us to remain the benchmark in supply chain management within the market.”
A leading company in Supply Chain Management, Makeitalia continued to expand its client network, recording revenues of 19.4 million euros in 2024.
This significant achievement reflects the ever-increasing quality of services offered to clients by the Modena-based company, which is capable of building tailor-made solutions in line with market needs.
Innovation, efficiency, and cutting-edge tools continue to guide Makeitalia’s internal choices towards increasingly sustainable and inclusive growth.
This is thanks to extensive attention paid to ESG issues and the consolidation of activities implemented last year, such as the expansion of the company’s photovoltaic system, the installation of eco-sustainable equipment in the production and logistics areas, social commitment, support for local businesses, attention to gender equality, and new governance control systems.
The third edition of the Supply Chain Challenge, the national supply chain championship organized by the Modena-based company Makeitalia and held last Tuesday, saw the participation of 21 Italian universities and approximately 1,200 master’s students in Management Engineering.
The final event concluded a qualification period that ran from November to June 2024.
This competition aimed to test participants in managing a ‘real’ supply chain, using a training and simulation tool developed by Makeitalia, the Supply Chain Game. From the challenge among the 72 finalist students, the winner of this third edition of the event was the University of Brescia team, composed of Aurora Saleri and Davide Salandini.
On the podium, in second place, was the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, with students Matteo Pio Pienabarca, Davide Dall’Olio, and Matteo Musella.
The third place was awarded to the Politecnico di Torino team, composed of Francesco Zenobi, Sara Nizzo, Antonino Allegro, and Emanuela Nasello.
For the students, the final was also a unique opportunity to engage with the professional world, thanks to the presence of international companies, partners of the initiative, such as Ferrari, Philip Morris, and DSV. These companies shared the principles on which the Supply Chain Challenge is based—merit, excellence, innovation—and actively participated in the event with interactive and practical workshops.
The financial results of Makeitalia, a benchmark for companies in Supply Chain management, have continued to grow since 2008, the year the Modena-based company was founded. The company’s management confirmed 2022 revenues at 12 million euros, a +33% increase compared to 2021. This growth refers not only to revenue but also to people, projects, and the company’s headquarters. 2022 saw 30 new hires, with a growth plan aiming to double by the end of 2024.
Today, Makeitalia has 140 employees, “our most important resources,” states Francesco Tonolo, partner at Makeitalia. “Our people, Supply Chain professionals, are our only true asset. For this reason, we are constantly attentive to their training and continuous growth paths. We focus on the best talents to provide professional, concrete, and high-quality services to our clients in supply chain management.”
2022 was a significant year for Makeitalia, also regarding its corporate headquarters. The company relocated from Castelfranco Emilia, its original location, to Modena, moving into a modern, larger facility: a headquarters spanning almost 3,000 square meters with cutting-edge environmental features, energy consumption, and comfort. This new location offers both offices and production/logistics spaces, aligning with increasingly integrated services for its clients. Furthermore, the new facility also houses the Training Center, Makeitalia’s Supply Chain Academy, with the goal of offering increasingly experiential training to internal resources and client companies.
“We continuously leverage research and innovation to keep our objective alive: to provide a comfortable and stimulating environment for our employees and remain a benchmark in Supply Chain management and related critical issues for our clients,” concludes Tonolo.
Makeitalia, a Modena-based company that has made Supply Chain Management its core business for over 14 years, organized its corporate convention with over 120 employees last Thursday, December 15, at Acetaia Leonardi in Formigine, in the province of Modena. The now-traditional December convention represents an important annual event for Makeitalia, during which the entire team shares the milestones achieved during the year and launches future objectives.
During this year’s event, in particular, the full achievement of all economic and financial targets set for 2022 was shared. These figures highlight and confirm the company’s constant growth and absolute financial stability since its founding year, 2008. The event was also an opportunity to summarize the many developments that characterized 2022 as it draws to a close: a new corporate headquarters for Makeitalia, the significant events and awards organized and received during the year, a constantly growing team that has exceeded 120 people, and the significant optimization of internal business processes, with the goal of striving for innovation every day. Finally, the clients: growing in both quantity and quality.
Marcello Carretta, partner at Makeitalia, spoke about the past year and new projects: “2022 was an important year of great satisfaction for Makeitalia. With the inauguration of the new headquarters, growth exceeding 30%—an all-time high—and the achievement of all objectives set for the year, we have definitively left the effects of the pandemic behind us. But the most important thing is that we are building a great team: young, strong, and cohesive. Thanks to this team, no goal is out of reach, and no challenge scares us. We face the challenges awaiting us in 2023 with enthusiasm, but with our eyes already on the next play, as Andrea Lucchetta taught us.”
Volleyball champion Andrea Lucchetta participated in the convention as a guest. During his valuable speech, many parallels emerged between corporate organization, the various reference functions, and the organization of a winning team. These were particularly significant insights, coming from someone who helped lead a provincial team to become the core of that “generation of phenomena” that dominated world volleyball for over a decade, winning three world championships.
And now? Makeitalia is ready to face 2023, which is just around the corner: new challenges and opportunities await the Modena-based company, always characterized by pragmatism and excellence.
Founded in 2008, Makeitalia specializes in Supply Chain Management, which involves managing and overseeing the supply chain for top-tier national and international clients.
Last Thursday, the company inaugurated its new Modena headquarters (3,000 square meters of space, with a Fiat 500 greeting visitors from a wall in the atrium) in the Torrazzi industrial area.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by employees, clients, and suppliers, as well as the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, and Mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli.
Makeitalia currently has 110 employees and achieved a turnover of 9 million euros in 2021. The new headquarters offers both offices and production spaces, allowing the company to best deliver all its services, with a new logistics area to support clients not only in managing the entire supply chain or part of it from the perspective of processes, methods, and competencies, but also physical flows and components.
Last Thursday, the Supply Chain Academy was also inaugurated on Via Palach, created to offer companies training courses in this field.
Makeitalia, previously based in Castelfranco, has an ambitious three-year growth plan that aims to double its number of employees to 200 people by 2024. “We never questioned moving from this region, a global center of excellence in the manufacturing sector. With our new headquarters, equipped with the most innovative technological features, we wanted to create a modern and even more comfortable environment for all our employees,” commented Francesco Tonolo, a partner at Makeitalia, shortly before the ribbon-cutting. “The Supply Chain is now more crucial than ever for companies. It’s a highly relevant topic in a context shaken by tensions, starting with the pandemic and the war.”
