The Makeitalia Supply Chain Challenge Finals concluded in Modena

The 2023 Italian Champion Team of the Supply Chain Challenge has been elected in Modena

On 19 September, Makeitalia elected the winning team of the second edition of the National Supply Chain Championship at the Modena Golf & Country Club, in the presence of 75 student finalists, the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region Stefano Bonaccini and the initiative’s partner companies.

Supply Chain Challenge: what is it?

This is the First National Supply Chain Championship created by Makeitalia and which saw, in this second edition, the involvement of 18 Italian Universities and over 1,000 Master’s students in Management Engineering.
Born with the aim of giving voice to the best talents and creating new professional opportunities in the Supply Chain sector, the final phase of the competition took place on 19 September 2023 at the Modena Golf & Country Club.

The September event was the conclusion of a qualifying period which was held from November 2022 to June 2023: 8 months of competitions between 18 Italian Universities, such as Milano, Torino and Bari Polytechnics, Sapienza University of Roma, University of Calabria-Cosenza, University of  Parma, Firenze, Siena, Palermo, Bergamo, Brescia, Napoli Federico II, Napoli Parthenope, Bologna, Padova, Trento, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Cassino and Lazio Meridionale.

Over 1,000 students involved in a competition which aimed to test themselves with the management of a “real” supply chain, through a training and simulation tool developed by Makeitalia, the Supply Chain Game.

The 75 student finalists faced each other one last time on September 19th. At the end of the competition, Makeitalia, in the presence of President Bonaccini, awarded the winners of this second edition: the team from the University of Padova, composed of Leonardo Buffolo, Lorenzo Cassarà and Giacomo Martucci.
On the podium, in second place: the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, with the student Lorenzo Ferrari.
Third place was awarded to the team from the University of Brescia, made up of Maksym Huz, Andrea Piatti and Francesca Michelini.

The day of September 19th was also a unique opportunity for the students to interact with partner companies:

  • Bulgari S.p.A.
  • DSV – Global Transport and Logistics
  • Manitou Italia Srl
  • Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna
  • Tetra Pak.

Companies that shared the principles on which the Supply Chain Challenge is based – merit, excellence, innovation – and that actively participated in the Finals, presenting their core business and providing the finalists with the opportunity to meet and compare with their Supply Chain Manager, through interactive and practical workshops.
