An unprecedented initiative by Makeitalia, a Modenese company which, for 14 years, has had its core business in Supply Chain Management: the management and optimization of the supply chain.
This first edition involved 10 Italian universities and over 500 students. Objective: to identify the Italian Supply Chain Champions.
After a first qualifying phase, which was held during the entire academic year 2021-2022 and which took the name of the Italian League, the winning teams of each stage were the protagonists of the final event organized by Makeitalia in Modena, September 21, 2022: the Finals 21-22.

Yesterday, September 21, 2022, the Finals 21-22 of the first edition of the Supply Chain Challenge were held, an unprecedented initiative by Makeitalia: the First National Supply Chain Championship among Italian Universities.
After a first phase of qualifications, which lasted for the entire academic year and saw the participation of 10 Italian universities and over 500 master’s students, the winning teams of each stage gathered in Modena, at the Hotel RMH Modena Des Arts, location of the final event.
The final challenge to the Supply Chain Game, a simulation tool created by Makeitalia, decreed the overall winner of the first edition of the Championship.
The trophy was raised by the team from the University of Bergamo, composed of Lorenzo Cavagna, Andrea Coli and Roberto Fradegrada.
“We thank Makeitalia and the partners for giving us this opportunity. It was an unusual initiative for us: in 5 years of university I have never had an experience of this kind. An experience that takes you from theory to practice“, commented Roberto Fradegrada.
In second place, the team from the University of Trento, made up of Alessandra Fronza and Angela Tessari.
On the other hand, the team of the Politecnico di Milano, with the students Giorgio Burini and Franco Chiriacò, placed third on the podium.
The event also gave students the opportunity to interact with the partner companies of the initiative, through cognitive meetings and practical tests, in order to get further into concrete contact with the business world and thus generate new professional opportunities. for the best talents.
Makeitalia extends its heartfelt thanks to all the students who took part in the initiative and, especially, to the companies that have joined the project: DSV – Global Transport and Logistics, Emmegi Spa, FAAC Technologies, Manitou Italia Srl, Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna, Sidel Spa.

DSV – “DSV among the partners of the first edition of the Supply Chain Challenge“
In recent months, changes in the geopolitical landscape, inflationary growth and the increase in transport costs have created numerous uncertainties in the management of distribution networks. Optimization, flexibility and ability to manage critical issues have therefore become key elements within companies, which today are increasingly looking for professionals able to provide for the continuous improvement of the supply chain.
And it is precisely to cultivate and develop these skills that Supply Chain Game was born, the new simulation and training format of Makeitalia to bring out the university talents, to which DSV has joined as the only partner in the logistics and transport sector with a dual objective: strengthen its link with Italian universities and recruit promising young people.

Following the participation in the Ucima Assembly Conference on 29 June 2022, on 16 September 2022 Makeitalia will be the speaker of the Webinar “Purchasing Focus”, an event organized by Ucima – Union of Italian manufacturers of automatic packaging and packaging machines.
The Webinar, “Purchasing Focus: concrete ideas for conscious decisions“, will aim to deepen the results of the survey conducted by Makeitalia on the purchasing area, in collaboration with Ucima, examine the current scenario and present the new trends that will affect the shopping function.
Retracing the stages of the events: Makeitalia, on behalf of Ucima, has conducted over the past months a survey submitted to the companies registered with the Association, in order to investigate some aspects of the purchasing area of the companies involved: purchase turnover, structuring of the area of each, centralization of the purchasing department, number of employees, activities and other aspects.
During the first meeting in June 2022, Makeitalia presented a preview of the results. The September Webinar will be an opportunity to deepen the data of the survey conducted.
Among the speakers at the event, Matteo Montecchi, Makeitalia’s R&D Manager, will be present.
